What an exciting season this has been, culminating in our Fourth Annual Redwood Coast Druid Gathering! The consensus is that it was the best one of all so far! There were lots of activities, rebondings, ordinations, and meeting of some new people – one of whom is from New Zealand. He’s been touring this country in an RV for the past year, and the Gathering was the last event he attended before heading back – what a sendoff! We also had people from Redding and Southern Oregon…

Friday afternoon and evening was mainly a social time, with a casual circle around the fire, a shared meal and some live music, as people who traveled a long way were tired. On Saturday, a few of the guys took all the kids (there were quite a few this year) to a nearby swimming hole in the beautiful (and quite warm) Eel River so the other adults could attend all the workshops in peace…

Workshops included a 41-Pebble Shamanic Divination, Tarot Magick, and Numerology 101. We also would have had another called “Healing Through Dance” by our Oregon friend Carolyn, who is lately studying Tantric Dance – but we ran out of time before we had to get ready for the night’s festivities. We needed to set up the altar and prepare the ritual space, which for the first time was not to be led by myself and El…although we played a small part in it…

We decided this year to get a taste of an ADF Druid ritual, so we invited Aigeann and Richard – our co-sponsors from the Triple Horses Grove in Medford, OR – to lead it, as they are very experienced in ADF rites. They did an amazing job – it was quite moving and enjoyable! They also renewed their handfasting vows during the rite, which was very cool… :)

After the ritual and before the main feast, I snuck Aigeann and Tiffiny off into the deserted ritual area (candles in jars still burning, as it was getting quite dark by then) to perform their 7th degree ordinations. We had a bit of Archdruid sharing, which was awesome! Then we made our way to the feast…after which there was more music and mirth around the fire, into the night…

Sunday ended with a small shared brunch as people were packing and saying their goodbyes. It was such a peaceful, harmonious, friendly and enjoyable “family reunion” sort of weekend that we were all reluctant to leave. Besides, those wonderful redwoods really seem to love it when the Druids and Reiki people visit them… :)

New bonds were made, old ones renewed, and people were already looking forward to next year, ending the weekend by saying, “Next year in Dryad’s Realm!”

(Many pictures and some videos were taken - I will share them in another issue...)

A note about this issue of The Druid’s Egg: I’ve decided – since more and more of our Druids are “Lightworkers” and Reiki Masters/Practitioners, to include some articles about metaphysics and the path to enlightenment and lightwork…I believe this information is very compatible with a modern Druid path, and valuable for us to learn about. El and I were just discussing this recently, about how our path in particular has been enriched and supported by our Reiki and metaphysical studies – and we’re definitely not alone in this realization…so…

I hope you all enjoy them… :)
